Guardiola: I couldn't have asked for more

La Liga Champions! Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola praised his "exemplary" team after they bagged a second successive La Liga title on Sunday.

And Guardiola claimed his side would not have achieved their record total of 99 points if not for being pushed all the way by Real Madrid.

Barca needed a win to secure a seventh trophy in less than two years under Guardiola, regardless of Madrid's result in Malaga.

And the Catalans made sure as they brushed aside lowly Valladolid - now relegated - at the Nou Camp with another scintillating display of attacking football.

Luis Prieto's own-goal gave Barca the lead and Pedro added an excellent second shortly afterwards before Lionel Messi's second-half brace.

Speaking about his team, Guardiola said: "They have been exemplary and I couldn't have asked for more, their effort and work has been outstanding.

"I (also) have to congratulate the coach and players of Real Madrid for an extraordinary campaign.

Barcelona wrap up La Liga in style

La Liga Champions!Barcelona retained their La Liga crown as they thrashed Real Valladolid 4-0 at home amid a carnival atmosphere at the Nou Camp.

After an uncharacteristically rocky start from Barca, nerves were settled when Luis Prieto inexplicably turned the ball into his own net under no pressure in the 27th minute.

Pedro then doubled the Barca lead four minutes later, and a brace from Lionel Messi in the second capped the win and saw the brilliant Argentinian match Ronaldo's record of scoring 47 goals in all competitions, 34 of them coming in the league.

Real Madrid, who began the day only one point behind Barcelona, fell behind against Malaga as Sergio Duda scored in the ninth minute.

Rafael van der Vaart equalised early in the second half, but Real could not find a winner as they fell three points behind their arch-rivals.

The surprise draw saved Malaga from the drop as they finished 17th, one point above both Valladolid and Tenerife, 1-0 losers to Valencia as Alexis Ruano grabbed an 89th-minute winner for Los Che, who deserved the victory despite making hard work of scoring.

Xerez will join those two in the Segunda Division as they took only a point from a 1-1 draw at Osasuna.

The hosts grabbed the lead through Dady in the 55th minute. Xerez refused to die, equalising through Antonito Perez six minutes later, but even a winner would not have saved them in the end.

Ancelotti: I want to stay for 10 years

Chelsea vs Wigan: Big Carl and Flo MoCarlo Ancelotti has declared his intention to remain at Chelsea for the next 10 years.

Although there was an element of tongue-in-cheek about how easy his first season at Stamford Bridge had been, it seems the Italian has had a ball.

After overcoming the not inconsiderable setback of the Champions League exit to Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan, Chelsea scorched to the Premier League title, cushioned by a goal deluge and then survived the concession of a second-half penalty in the FA Cup final at Wembley to beat Portsmouth and record the first domestic double in their history.

Little wonder Ancelotti was able to wear a satisfied smile as he assessed the progress that has been made.

It should not be forgotten that during the eight years he spent at former club AC Milan, Chelsea went through a staggering six managers, with only Mourinho laying down any kind of marker.

Ancelotti does not feel such a scenario is healthy - and he certainly has no intention of vacating the Stamford Bridge hotseat any time soon.

Man United vs Bayern Munich Key Battles

United vs Bayern We pick out some of the key one-on-ones to look out for in the crunch game between Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Rafael Da Silva (Manchester United) vs Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich)

With Sir Alex Ferguson opting for youth before experience, Rafael will replace Gary Neville as the man to man-mark Ribery. The Frenchman was all over Neville in the first half of the first leg - running the veteran into the ground with his pace and trickery on the flank.

Rafael's stamina will give United a huge advantage, but the youngster will have to curb his penchant for going on attacking runs and leaving wide open spaces behind him.

If the past is anything to go by, Rafael hails from the Paul Scholes School of tackling - and he'll have to be very careful not to go in stabbing with his leg when Ribery is in and around the penalty box.

Michael Carrick (Manchester United) vs Mark Van Bommel (Bayern Munich)

Carrick will likely replace Scholes, who played the full 90 minutes in the first leg. The younger midfielder will be up against the highly experienced Van Bommel. The Dutchman was relatively quiet in the first leg except for one exhilarating run which culminated in Edwin van der Sar having to make a brilliant save.

Ferguson: No one is scared of Ribery

Football News: Franck Ribery Sir Alex Ferguson insists Manchester United have no need to fear facing Franck Ribery at Old Trafford.

The Bayern Munich star has already caused the Red Devils some pain, scoring the equaliser in Germany last week, even if he did benefit from a pretty wicked deflection off Wayne Rooney.

Yet with United needing to attack in an effort to overturn Bayern's 2-1 advantage, the stage seems set for Ribery to prove why he is rated as one of the most dangerous wide men in the world.

Not that Ferguson sounds like a potential suitor.

After dismissing claims Ribery could worry Gary Neville by claiming he was "no faster" than the veteran United skipper, Ferguson displayed an air of confidence about his side's ability to cope with the France international.

"Franck Ribery is a very talented player and we recognise that," Ferguson said. "But we have played against a lot of great players over the years.
